Teaching Experience: Summers 1986, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995: Visiting Professor at the Universiy of Linz ( Austria). Aside from courses in elementary and intermediate German (including courses on translation into German), I have taught a variety of literature courses dealing with periods from the 18th through the 20th century both on the graduate and on the undergraduate level. These courses covered topics such as: Spring 1981 and 1988. In connection with Emory’s Summer Study in Vienna, on several occasions, I taught courses on German drama based on plays being performed at that time in the city. Aside from teaching regular courses, I have overseen numerous graduate and undergraduate directed studies on various aspects of German literature, philosophy and cultural history. In addition, I have (co-)directed honors theses in Emory College; and Master’s theses, and dissertations in the ILA and in the Program in Comparative Literature.
