Overview

The Department of German Studies offers several opportunities to obtain an award. There are external awards available through DAAD and the Fulbright Program.
Our Senior Lecturer Viola Westbrook represents Delta Phi Alpha, our German national honor society, which invites students in our department each spring who have a cummulative grade above 3.0 German grade 3.5 and higher.


This year's inductees to Delta Phi Alpha are Ming Zhao, Romina Savova, Sarah Brandt and Elizabeth van Graafeiland.



There are several internal awards available for all students taking courses in German Studies. Each year the Sprachpreis is awarded to the most outstanding first and second year student. In addition we recognize the most outstanding Senior majoring in German.

This year's recipients: David Cohen, most outstanding Senior, Lisa Hamlett and Elliot Woehler, winners of the Sprachpreis.
