Overview

Emory University offers many opportunities for students to study abroad during a regular academic year as well as during the summer.

During the academic year students can study for one semester or for the entire year in programs offered through the Institute for the International Education of Students (IES) in Berlin, Vienna and Freiburg. Students in IES programs can take courses both at IES Centers and at the local university. These courses are treated as if they were Emory courses. For more information about the IES programs, please contact the Center for International Programs Abroad (CIPA).

During the summer students can participate in longest running summer program offered by Emory, the Department of German Studies Emory in Vienna Program. The courses offered in Vienna during the summer are Emory courses taught by Emory faculty. They include German 101/102 (Beginning German), German 201/202 (Intermediate German) German 370 A/B (The Austrian Experience) and Music 202 (Music in Vienna). In addition to coursework, there is a rich cultural program for all participants. For more information on the Vienna summer program, click on the links to the left or contact the German Department directly (404-727-6439).
